Teaching

In addition to teaching courses in the English Department at Boston College, I am committed to exploring pedagogy questions in a group setting. I am currently serving as the co-director of the department’s PhD student Pedagogy Seminar. In that role I have arranged seminars with student and faculty presenters on topics including “Teaching Literature Core and Beyond,” “Finding Your Teaching Persona,” and “Balancing Teaching with Research, Writing and Service.” I am also in the process of compiling a website that showcases the work done by First Year Writing instructors at Boston College and provides sample syllabi, assignments, and handouts for future graduate instructors at BC.

During the 2016-2017 school year, I taught two undergraduate courses at BC:

  1. First Year Writing Seminar: Writing & Pop Culture (syllabus)
  2. Literature Core: Literature & Adaptation (syllabus)

During the 2017-2018 school year, I will be teaching the following undergraduate courses:

  1. Shakespeare: Exploring Potentiality in Adaptation and Performance
  2. Literature Core: Queer Drama
